the following statements. Circle the number on the scale that fits your opinion
the best. Write at least two sentences explaining your thoughts about each
statement. There are no right or wrong answers! We will be discussing your
answers in class.

always
true sometimes true depends sometimes false always false
1. Laws
are always written for the protection of the citizens.
1 2 3 4 5
I think most rules are written to protect citizens, at least in America they are. Other countries however don'd have the same system of government and in that case some rules are made to benefit just the government and not help the citizens of that country.
2. Some
books are evil and should be destroyed.
1 2 3 4 5
Books should never be destroyed, even when the books are very explicit they still contain a moral, message, or history and there tools of learning in any case. The books could be forbidden to certain age groups if there to explicit for the maturity of that age group.
3. In
a world filled with constant, 24-hour news, there are no true facts. (Things keep changing.)
1 2 3 4 5
There are true facts because everything that is on the news has happened its just constantly changing because new things are happening.
4. If
it was against the law to read books, I would break the law and read anyway.
1 2 3 4 5
More then likely yes i probably would break the law to read, only because reading can teach you many lessons without having to actually experience it in real life.
5. It
is impossible to be close friends with people who think differently than
you.
1 2 3 4 5
Yes somethings it is impossible because you have very opposite views on situations but then again if your respect each others views you can still get along very well. Plus there will still be things you both agree on too.
6. If
most people believe something, then it must be true, even if there is no proof.
1 2 3 4 5
If someone told you they had a pet unicorn and people believed them, would you? Some things are believable without proof, but usually its realistic stuff.
7. Only
those who are hired to protect society’s laws, such as police officers, should
be allowed to own and use guns.
1 2 3 4 5
I highly disagree with this, guns are only dangerous when in the hands of people who are dangerous and people who don't know how to use them. There are many other reasons for people that arent of law enforcement to have gun, like hunting.
8. There are some things so important in life
that they are worth risking your life for.
1 2 3 4 5
I think that its up to the individual what they risk there life on. I mean some people would risk there life for a parent or loved one, and some people may not get along with them and wouldn't. It depends on what type of person you are.
9. In
today’s world, writers and artists are not as important to society as
scientists and engineers.
1 2 3 4 5
Yes this is for the most part true, our society is very focused on new technology and that kind of thing as opposed to a new book that was wrote or a painting painted.
10. Laws are clear in our society so that we don’t break them.
1 2 3 4 5
Some laws are very clear, but on the other hand some of the other ones aren't clear. Most of the laws are clear because there has been an argument over the law and the way it is perceived.
